Ian Keane comes from West Clare and grew up speaking both Irish and English.  He is a member of the Irish Department at Mary Immaculate College, (University of Limerick) Limerick where he teaches Irish language and culture classes to international students. He is in the process of completing a PhD on Irish folklore from the Conamara Gaeltacht. He also works at Castletroy College Limerick teaching the Irish language to second level students. During the summer months he works in the Conamara Gaeltacht teaching Irish to students from all over Ireland.  He will be offering the following workshops to you:

Workshop Schedule:

Saturday AM      10:30- Noon     Just for starters.    For beginners with little or no experience.  Simple vocabulary and grammar.  Taught in English.

Saturday PM      1:00 - 2:30      History of the Irish Language.  

Sunday AM         10:30 - Noon   Intermediate.  Simple conversations in Irish, with explanations in English.

Sunday PM         1:00 - 2:30    Gaelic Immersion.  Stories and conversation in Irish.  No English allowed.

Terry Kane is an Irish American who has been an avid proponent of the Irish Language and a performer of songs in both English and Irish.  She will be teaching sean nos singing during the festival, but will also offer one Irish language workshop.
